What is this indicator?
This goal is measured by tracking the average wait time in years for a plot at one of the city’s three community garden locations.
Why is it important?
Community gardens foster community connectivity, a healthy relationship between people and their food, and physical activity. Demand for community gardens far exceeds supply; tracking the average wait time for a plot helps inform future decisions for potential expansion to accommodate the high demand.
How are we doing?
As of June 2014, the average wait time is five years. There are 144 residents participating in the three community gardens. The 2020 target is an annual decrease in the average wait time for community garden plots.
